For athletes recovering from a jaw or facial injury, we work directly with the treating maxillofacial surgeon and dentist. Coverage, thickness, bite relationship and the timing of your return to contact are all designed around their requirements, not a template.
Return to contact is always subject to clearance from your treating practitioners. SMESH™ builds the guard to their specification.

SMESH™ is prescribed by a dentist or surgeon, not sold direct. Ask your dentist for a SMESH™ custom mouthguard, or have them contact the laboratory.
Your dentist takes an intraoral scan of your teeth and bite. About fifteen minutes, no impression material. We accept digital scans only, no gypsum models.
We design, pressure-form and hand-finish your guard in our Cape Town laboratory. Typically ready within [5] working days.
Your dentist fits the guard, checks the bite and coverage, and we adjust anything that needs adjusting.

SMESH™ is not sold off a shelf or online. It is prescribed by a dental professional, built from an intraoral scan in our laboratory, and fitted by the same professional. We do not accept physical impressions or gypsum models.

Any dentist with an intraoral scanner can prescribe a SMESH™ guard. Tell them you want a SMESH™ custom mouthguard from BOSH Laboratories; they scan, we build, they fit. If you're recovering from a jaw or facial injury, your surgeon or dentist should lead the conversation with us.

Intraoral scans of the upper and lower arches plus a bite registration, exported as STL (PLY or OBJ also accepted).

Digital files only. We do not accept gypsum models, alginate or silicone impressions.

Prescription notes: sport and level, colour & design requirements, any clinical history (fractures, surgery, implants, orthodontics) and whether a surgeon is involved.

Delivery: the finished guard is returned to your practice for fitting. Typical turnaround 5 working days.
